Bridging Data Science with Business Insight
I’m Alexander Bade, a business graduate turned data enthusiast, currently pursuing my MSc in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Warwick. My journey into data began in 2023 during an internship at Retecon, where I first discovered how analytics and visualization could transform business decision-making. Since then, I’ve been driven by a simple belief — that data science creates real value only when it’s applied with business understanding and context.
This page highlights the key milestones that shaped that belief and how each experience has deepened my passion for bridging data and business practicality.
My Journey So Far
2021
Giesecke+Devrient – Business Development Intern (Dubai, UAE)
At Giesecke+Devrient, I supported the business development team by analyzing customer spending data to identify growth opportunities. I also created professional PowerPoint presentations and optimized marketing materials to enhance engagement. This experience was my first exposure to structured data analysis for commercial decision-making, sparking my initial curiosity in how data can influence business outcomes.
2021 – 2025
BA International Business, Munich Business School
Where it all began. I developed a strong foundation in business and management while studying international business, including a semester abroad at Boston University, which gave me a global perspective on how organizations use data to drive strategy.
2022
BASF – Finance Intern (Seoul, South Korea)
At BASF Korea, I assessed client creditworthiness by analyzing financial ratios to recommend suitable payment terms. I optimized the receivables process using Excel automation to minimize outstanding balances and presented a redesigned utility payment workflow to management using flowchart analysis. This internship strengthened my financial analytics foundation and attention to process optimization — skills that later aligned seamlessly with my data-driven career path.
2023
Retecon – Financial Analytics Intern (Johannesburg, South Africa)
This is where I discovered my passion for data. During my internship at Retecon, I built Power BI dashboards to visualize financial KPIs and automate reporting workflows. It was my first exposure to coding and seeing how data can make business operations more efficient. That experience sparked my interest in analytics and set the direction for my career.
2023 – 2025
Self-Development & Certifications
Alongside my studies and internships, I’ve consistently dedicated time to self-learning — developing both technical and analytical skills through online courses and personal projects.
I’ve completed certifications including Google Data Analytics, SQL for Data Science, and Python for Data Analysis, while also exploring topics like machine learning, data visualization, and business intelligence.
This self-driven learning has deepened my understanding of how to apply data techniques to real business challenges and continues to complement my master’s degree at Warwick.
2024
dm-drogerie markt – SCM Data Science Intern (Karlsruhe, Germany)
At dm, I applied data science to large-scale retail operations. I collaborated with data scientists to build RShiny dashboards for tracking pallet utilization across 2,000+ stores, performed seasonal demand analysis, and evaluated forecast models that reduced prediction error by 30%.
This was where I truly understood how data science can drive measurable improvements in business efficiency and decision-making.
2025
MSc Business Analytics & Artificial Intelligence, Warwick Business School
I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree at the University of Warwick, deepening my understanding of machine learning, predictive modelling, and data-driven decision-making. My goal is to combine technical data science skills with a strong sense of business practicality — bridging the gap between analytics and real-world business impact.
